As a resident of Amsterdam, every day I meet people who have come to live and work here from another country. And who barely speak Dutch, or don't dare to speak it.

 

As Dutch people, we make it very difficult for them, because as soon as we hear "I don't speak Dutch," we immediately switch to English. Well, it's hard to learn that way ;-)

 

As a former Dutch teacher at secondary schools and as a studentcoach, I know how to help you. Not only with the (hard) language, but also with your confidence of using it.

Of course, there are many YouTube videos and you can take an (online) course and for most people that works very well! But if you are looking for 1 on 1 sparring with someone, someone who not only teaches you Dutch 'by the book', then call or app me for a first (free) appointment.

 

Just at your or my home, coffee and then we can explore your needs. Do you want to be able to manage in stores? Do you want to pass the civic integration exam? Are you looking for knowledge about Dutch culture, are there just a lot of things you wonder? We take a pragmatic approach.

Impact

I teach according to 'learning by listening (me) and doing (you)' and the effect of this was recently nicely described by one of my students:
